Sony has been a dominant player in the audio-visual market for decades, but with the Bravia Theater System 6, they’ve really outdone themselves. I spent a week putting this sleek, all-in-one home theater system to the test, and let me tell you – if you’re craving cinematic sound without the bulky, cluttered setup, this one’s worth a closer look.

Unboxing and First Impressions

From the moment you crack open the box, it’s clear that Sony is leaning hard into a minimalist aesthetic here. The components are sleek, with a glossy black finish that looks right at home in a modern living room setup. The system includes a soundbar, subwoofer, and two rear satellite speakers – all wireless, which makes for a remarkably clean setup. If you’re like me and loathe tangled cords, you’ll appreciate how easy it is to connect everything without the usual chaos of wires.

Sound Quality: It’s All About That Bass

Once the system was up and running, I kicked things off with a couple of movie soundtracks and action-packed blockbusters. Sony’s claim of “room-filling surround sound” isn’t just marketing fluff – the audio genuinely surrounds you, creating a rich, cinematic experience. The subwoofer delivers some serious punch without being overly boomy, and the dialogue clarity is impressive even during explosive action scenes.

However, one potential drawback: While the bass is rich and full, it can sometimes overpower the mids and highs, especially during quieter, dialogue-driven moments. If you’re someone who loves to hear every whispered line of dialogue, you might need to tweak the EQ settings a bit.

Design: Modern Looks, Compact Footprint

Let’s talk aesthetics. The Bravia Theater System 6 isn’t just another chunky home theater setup – it’s a sleek, minimalist system that can blend into pretty much any room. The soundbar is slim enough to fit under most TVs, and the satellite speakers are small yet powerful, making it easy to position them for optimal surround sound without crowding your space.

Promising review:This is one outstanding theater sound system! I do Not have a Bravia television, but this works fantastic with my old Samsung. It would be even more amazing if I had a Bravia. There would be a lot more control for adjusting the sound. The sound is phenomenal as it is though. It’s crystal clear and has an excellent balance. One thing that was very exciting was the minimal use of wires. Finally, no more running wires under the carpet or around the baseboards! There is no wire to run. It has its own Bluetooth router. I love that separate little router for the rear speakers. So very cool! You can put them across the room (without a wire) and they connect to the system. This is a Much better set up than just a soundbar alone. I can finally hear my tv!
The quality is Superb…to say the least. The speakers have amazing crystal clear sound. Everything is very well made. You can SEE the quality in every piece. It was easy to hook up to the television and connect all of the speakers. I do have minimal control over some of the functions, but that’s because it’s not hooked up to a Bravia tv. Even with the minimal control, it has been the best sound system EVER! I love everything about this. The size of the soundbar is perfect for under my tv. It’s fairly long, so it fills the space nicely. The small rear speakers work fantastic. There are wires for those, but they have to get power some way. They used as little wiring as possible. I love that. This system works flawlessly. Would be even better with a Bravia television, but works fantastic with what I have it hooked up to. This is an absolutely outstanding theater sound system!” – Sheila W

Extremely pleased with this high-quality Sony sound bar system. This is an upgrade to a very old Sony soundbar that I had from 2010 which served its purpose well but was past its prime.

This new system is VERY simple to set up, even if you don’t have a Sony TV. If you’re using HDMI you get the eARC instant connection and everything is set to go. Using the BRAVIA Connect app to complete the setup is also super straightforward – I set up the entire system in less than 5 minutes.

As far as functionality is concerned, if you’re already able to control your TV volume through your standard remote and you’re using eARC, there’s nothing more you need to do – your volume settings will switch from the TV to the system and your remote will continue to control the volume.

As far as the wireless portion is concerned, easy peasy. More importantly, I didn’t have any of the WiFi interference that I typically experience with some of these sound bars. During the initial setup I had the subwoofer less than 2 feet from my wireless router, and ran several tests on my internet speed using “Speedtest.” No issues in loss of signal or speed, which I’ve experienced with other products in the past.

This is a Sony item, so you know it’s going to be of high build quality. The Theater System 6 didn’t disappoint – it will look great in your living room and has a nice, solid well-built feel.

Highly recommended.” – CG

The Bravia Theater System 6 is perfect for movie lovers and binge-watchers who want to elevate their at-home viewing experience without investing in a full-blown, multi-piece audio system. It’s also a great fit for apartment dwellers or anyone short on space but still craving cinematic sound. Just keep in mind that while the bass is powerful, it may need adjusting for dialogue-heavy shows.
